Winter Date Night

Confession: Brandon and I have not been the best about making sure he and I get the quality one on one time since we’ve become parents. We want to make sure that we are being the best parents we can be to Eleanor and spending as much time as we can with her. We are both guilty of getting wrapped up in work and forgetting about us as a husband and wife. Our frequent “date nights” (if you can even call them that) have consisted of takeout and falling asleep while watching tv in bed… So we finally decided to have a real night out! Get dressed up, eat delicious food, and have a child free night (thanks to grandma!).(You can find my scarf HERE and Brandon’s shoes HERE) Of course, what happened though? We ended up talking about work and Eleanor the entire time. But that’s ok with me!

We ate at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse in the Short North area. We really love it down there. It was so nice to just sit and really enjoy each other. Life can be so busy sometimes that the most important things get pushed to the bottom of the list. I am so grateful for Brandon and me’s marriage and Eleanor is so lucky to have him as her dad.

After dinner, I may or may not have convinced Brandon to take me for Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. A true Columbus staple. We decided to walk to dinner but that was a terrible idea on my heels! Walking thru the Short North is beautiful anytime of year but it seems especially magical in the winter time with all the lights. I highly recommend a stroll down High St for those local or out of towners if you haven’t been. Now back to the ice cream… I have a huge sweet tooth and I love the unique flavors Jeni’s has to offer. Who cares if it’s freezing outside! Ice cream is good anytime of year! Ha!

What are your favorite date night spots in Columbus? I’m always looking to try a new place!
